DSAR
A data subject access request — a person asking a business what personal data it holds about them, and in many cases asking for it to be corrected or deleted.
One term from the WhatsApp Business Platform glossary. Last updated 2026-07-25.
For a messaging platform, answering a DSAR means locating every record tied to a person across contacts, conversations, media, campaign history and audit logs — not just the contact row.
Systems that store conversation data across several places without a common identity key make DSARs slow and error-prone. Handling them well is largely a data-architecture question answered long before the first request arrives.
