Template body
The main text of a WhatsApp template and the only required section. It carries the message content and any variables that get filled in per recipient at send time.
One term from the WhatsApp Business Platform glossary. Last updated 2026-07-25.
Every template needs a body; header, footer and buttons are all optional around it. The body supports basic formatting and named or numbered variables, with a sample value supplied for each variable at submission so reviewers can see how the finished message reads.
Reviewers reject bodies that begin or end with a bare variable and no surrounding text, because a message that renders as just a name or a number reads as spam-shaped. Wrapping every variable in real sentence context is the single easiest way to avoid an avoidable rejection.
