RBAC

Role-based access control — granting permissions by job role rather than individually, so an agent, a manager and an owner see different parts of a platform.

One term from the WhatsApp Business Platform glossary. Last updated 2026-07-25.

Roles bundle permissions so access is granted consistently: an agent handles conversations, a manager sees team reporting, an owner controls billing and channel connections. New joiners inherit the right scope from their role rather than being configured by hand.

The security value is limiting blast radius. Most data exposure incidents involve an account with far broader access than the person's job required, and role scoping is the cheapest structural defence against that.

Related terms

SSO
Single sign-on — letting staff log into a platform with the company identity provider they already use, rather than a separate username and password.
Audit log
An append-only record of who did what inside a platform and when. It cannot be edited after the fact, which is what makes it usable as evidence.
White label
Presenting a platform under another company's branding. Agencies use it so their clients see the agency's identity rather than the underlying vendor's.
