Webview
A web page opened from a WhatsApp message inside an in-app browser. It handles interactions too complex for native message components, at the cost of leaving the chat surface.
One term from the WhatsApp Business Platform glossary. Last updated 2026-07-25.
Some journeys do not fit inside message components — a long configurator, a seat map, a document signature. A URL button opens those in a webview, typically carrying a token that identifies the conversation so the page knows which customer it is serving.
The trade-off is friction. A webview leaves the chat surface and loses the native feel, so it is worth reaching for Flows first and treating webviews as the fallback for genuinely complex interactions.
