Use case

WhatsApp abandoned cart recovery for online stores

WhatsApp abandoned cart recovery sends a shopper a reminder about the item left in their cart, with a button back to checkout, some time after they leave. On BotPulsar the cart event arrives from Shopify, WooCommerce or your own store, a workflow waits, checks the order was not completed, sends a neutral reminder, and can follow up once more with an offer as a separate marketing template.

Typical cost: 2,000 messages a month on the Pro plan costs about ₹2,603 before GST — ₹1,999 platform fee plus ₹604 in Meta charges at India rates effective 1 July 2026 — or ₹3,072 including 18% GST.

How it works

Abandoned cart recovery on BotPulsar, step by step

Connect the store

Install the Shopify or WooCommerce connector, or post checkout events to the REST API from any other platform.

Approve two templates

A neutral reminder naming the product, and a separate marketing template carrying the discount. Meta treats them as different categories.

Add a wait step

Wait 30–60 minutes before the first message — a shopper who stepped away for two minutes has not abandoned anything.

Check, then send

Before each send the workflow checks whether the order was placed and exits if it was, so no one is reminded about something they bought.

Measure recovered revenue

Button clicks are tracked per message, and orders that follow a reminder are attributed to it in campaign analytics.

Limitations to know first

  • Only shoppers who gave their phone number and WhatsApp consent before abandoning can be messaged — anonymous carts cannot.
  • Meta decides the category at review. A reminder with any incentive is marketing and costs about 7.5× a utility message in India.
  • Discount codes are generated by your store, not by BotPulsar.

FAQ

Abandoned cart recovery on WhatsApp: common questions

How long after abandonment should the WhatsApp reminder go out?

Between 30 minutes and a few hours for the first reminder. Sooner feels intrusive; much later and the purchase intent has gone. Test both with an A/B split on the Pro plan.

Is an abandoned cart message marketing or utility?

A neutral reminder that only names the item and links to checkout can be accepted as utility. Any discount or promotional wording makes it marketing. Keep two separate templates rather than one that does both.

Does it work with Shopify?

Yes, through the Shopify connector. WooCommerce and Magento have connectors too, and any other store can send checkout events to the REST API.

How many reminders should we send per cart?

One or two. A third reminder mostly raises your block rate, which lowers your number's quality rating and eventually its sending limit.

Can the reminder show the product image?

Yes. A template can carry an image header, filled per recipient with the product's own picture.

Why is this on the Pro plan?

Timed multi-step follow-ups, A/B tests and order attribution are part of Pro's drip and retargeting tools. A single reminder triggered from the workflow builder works on Growth.
